Version MTX-Tunnel v10.15 available

Nuestro firmware MTX-Tunnel incorporado en nuestros Modems IoT se actualiza a una nueva versión. Con la llegada del MTX-Tunnel v10.14 se dan entradas a algunas interesantes funcionalidades implementadas para proyectos reales.

Support for the new MTX-4G-Java-T-S, with supercapacitor in case of external power failure

The new MTX-4G-Java-T-S is a new modem that incorporates an internal supercapacitor that makes the device have an autonomy of approximately one minute in an external power failure. Thanks to this new version of the tunnel it is possible to configure the modem to detect this situation and send an SMS alarm when it loses and when it recovers the power, as well as send an alarm via IP (http or MQTT to Cervello). 1 minute is more than enough time for this function.

An example of use is available in the new version of the MTX-Tunnel manual (Annex 2, example 26 – Alarms sent by SMS and MQTT message before the detection of a 220V power loss and before the return of the energy. Modem with 1 minute autonomy supercap) of an MTX configured to perform an IP-RS232 gateway, but with a power failure warning feature.

Greater control of external devices by SMS

Until now, the MTX-Tunnel had enough features to allow an SMS-RS232 gateway, allowing SMS commands to be sent to many third-party teams to execute actions. This functionality, combined with the MTX-Tunnel Aliases provided a normally sufficient and widely used feature. However, it had the lack that it did not allow sending via SMS commands that were not alphanumeric, preventing control of certain equipment whose header, for example, is in binary.

As of version 10.15 of the MTX-Tunnel, this limitation disappears and it is possible to send any type of command, alphanumeric, binary or combination of both via SMS to third-party devices. The method is as simple as specifying in the Alias the commands in hexadecimal between the tags. For example, to send the command with the characters {0x01} [0x02} OPE1 {0x03} (which mixes binary with alphanumeric) in the modem configuration, simply indicate: SMS_alias1: OPEN> AT ^ MTXTUNNEL = RS232,0,0102OPE103

An example of use is available in the new version of the MTX-Tunnel manual (Annex 2, example 26 – Data transmission by RS232 via SMS for the control of electronic equipment with proprietary protocols. Use of ALIAS to send nonprintable characters )

MTX at IoT Tech Expo Europe

The European technological event of the year is approaching. The IoT Tech Expo will take place on June 19 and 20 at the RAI in Amsterdam, where the main European and international IoT technology companies will meet. Names like Siemens and Nokia will coincide to catch up with the latest developments in the Internet of Things sector.

In Matrix Electrónica we can not miss this important event, where attendees can find us presenting our latest news at booth 584.

Our products range from our MTX IoT routers and modems to the Cervello data platform, both of which are necessary to build complete IoT solutions. We adapt to the needs of each project from the beginning to the end, reducing the time to market and unnecessary expenses, as well as the programming of the IoT platform.

Do not miss this appointment that will gather more than 300 exhibitors, 500 speakers, and more than 10,000 attendees. See you at the IoT Tech Expo.

Summary IoT seminar in Valencia

In their eagerness for the expansion of new IoT technologies and connectivity, Matrix Electrónica delivered a training seminar on platforms and work in the cloud last week at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. There, a Matrix application engineer and the CEO and The Business Development Manager of IoTBlue, a company that has a long experience in the development of IoT platforms, explained the concept ot IoT, the differences between IoT and M2M, and explained the different elements that are part of an IoT solution, from the platform in the cloud, to the sensors, through the devices and connectivity protocols, firmware, etc.

During the afternoon, the second part of the seminar took place, focused on attendees who already had IoT projects. In this collaborative block dedicated to practical cases, those who wanted to could expose their real projects and look for possible IoT solutions together with our experts.

The seminar hosted about 30 attendees, who in addition to hearing about the operation of IoT management platforms, were able to share and participate with their own projects in a collaborative training environment. If you are interested but could not attend, you can download the presentation on IoT platforms in the following link (Spanish).

Stay tuned for future notifications to avoid missing the next seminars.

Seminar about IoT platforms in Valencia

On May 8th Matrix Electrónica will give a seminar on platforms in the cloud at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. This seminar wants to offer formation about the changing technologies related with IoT (Internet of Things), especifically with the functioning of IoT managing platforms. There will also be a practical part focusing on those attendees who want to share their projects.

10:00 – 13:30 THEORY BLOCK

First block will consist on an intensive theoretical formation about devices, firmware and other technologies dedicated to IoT, as well as an exposition of application examples and real solutions. During the seminar we will explore the concept of IoT, the differences between IoT and M2M, and we will explain the different elements that conform an IoT solution, from the cloud platform to the sensors, as well as the devices, connectivity protocols, firmware, etc. Access to the first block is free. You can download the contents in Spanish here.
