Version MTX-Tunnel v10.18 available

Our MTX-Tunnel firmware incorporated in our IoT Modems is updated to a new version. With the arrival of the MTX-Tunnel v10.18, some interesting functionalities implemented for real projects are introduced and we have shown in three new scenarios especially dedicated to Metering solutions in which it is necessary to use SMS messaging.

In this new version of the MTX-Tunnel we make changes to SMS messaging with the following changes:

  • Support is added between sending AT commands via serial port and SMS-RS232 tunnels through the same serial port
  • Improvement in the reception of SMS commands avoiding that in very special circumstances the modems could stop receiving SMS

In addition, we have added new Metering scenarios to our MTX-Tunnel manual where special emphasis is placed on the evolution of CSD to IP communications, the introduction of a Device Manager and, above all, the security of communications, performance every day, more in demand.

New scenario: Meter reading via GSM call and/or IP communications (without SSL/ TLS security). Incorporation of Device Manager (with SSL/TLS security) for modem management

Counter reading system, compatible with both CSD calls (with security restriction of incoming telephone numbers) and IP communications (with Firewall), where communication with a Device Manager (such as Cervello) is also introduced. In this case, secure communications (SSL / TLS) are only with the Device Manager (Cervello).

In this case, communications between modem and Device Manager, and between modem and Reading Platform (once the data channel is open) have SSL / TLS security.

New scenario: Reading of counters per CSD call and IP communications with SSL/ TLS. Incorporation of Device Manager for modem management and connection between modems and the meter box reading platform

The meter reading system with greater security. In this case, the MTX modem does not have any open TCP or UDP port (which increases security) but all communications are made FROM the modem TO the Device Manager servers (Cervello) and the Reading Platform with SSL / TLS security and mutual authentication. In this specific scenario, synthesizing, when the Meter Reading Platform wants to read a counter, it informs the Device Manager (Cervello) through its API (HTTPS secure communication) that it needs to communicate with a certain modem. Then Cervello, through the secure connection (SSL / TLS) that it maintains permanently with each modem, tells the corresponding modem that it must open a secure data channel with the platform. The entire system is also compatible with CSD call.
